What are the best and worst things about being in care?
We asked you what you think the best and worst things are about being in care... this is what you said:
S, aged 12. The best thing about being in care is that I love living with my grandma and granddad. My Social Worker is a very nice lady. The nice thing is that she looks after me so nicely. The bad thing is she sometimes asks too many questions and it is always the same.
G, aged 12. You don’t get to do normal things like other children do. Children who are looked after don’t get to sleep over other people’s houses, but normal children do because the person doesn’t have to be police checked. But my Social Worker is fun to be around and gets me nice things when it is my birthday.
J, aged 12. What I like about being in care is that I am living with my Aunty. I like going shopping. I get to go to weddings and christenings.
R, age 13 and the thing I know about care – they help you but some time is not good for some kids because they don’t see their family. It’s fun because they take you out.
S, aged 11. The best thing about being in care is that they are so kind but sometimes I feel bored.
D, aged 10. The best thing about being in care is that they are always nice to people. My Social Worker tells me how it is like in my family. I don’t think that there is anything bad.
